Sonos Sub 4 Is Over $100 Off on Black Friday
If you’ve spent a year waiting for the new Sonos Sub to release, you’re in luck: it’s here now, on sale for $679 , down from $799 today through December 2nd.
If you have a Sonos system in your home, you know that the two most important parts you’ll buy are the soundbar and the subwoofer. Sonos has gone out of its way to make more affordable versions of both: the Beam , Ray , and Sub Mini for under $500 (all three are also on sale right now). This is all great audio equipment for the price, especially the Sub Mini, but the array was missing a full-size subwoofer.
Like its predecessors, the Sub 4 is stately and modern. It also offers bass so impressive that it’s noticeable right away. I thought I had a good surround sound system with the Arc and two Era speakers, but the subwoofer immediately made its presence known. Sub 4 makes you feel the music in your bones, giving the room a subtle thrill with every note. I often play music in the living room while working, and even my dog notices when the bass comes on. It’s not just music – last weekend I began my annual rewatch of the Die Hard catalogue, and the sound effects boomed through us in a way they hadn’t before.
Now, to be clear: you can’t put this beast under the couch; Even when laid on its side, it takes up a large area (15 x 15 x 6 inches). I was happy to learn that the subwoofer doesn’t have to be in the center of the room; you can place it wherever you want. Using Trueplay (an Apple-specific feature in the app that will use your device to configure Sonos), you can customize surround sound specifically for your needs.
Sonos products traditionally don’t go on sale very often, and while the company has had some struggles this year, we’ve seen these sales on both Prime Day and Black Friday, but I wouldn’t count on them forever. If you’ve been waiting for this release and decent sales, this is it.
