Apple Arcade Will Receive 15 New Games
If you have an Apple Arcade subscription, there are tons of new games waiting for you. Apple announced a list of 15 new games coming to the service on Wednesday, all set to debut between December and early January. While many of these are remakes and ports (some of which are marked with a “+” at the end of the title), it’s a fairly genre-diverse offering.
Here’s what’s coming soon to Apple Arcade and when you can expect them on the service:
December 5
Apple is kicking things off with an initial release of six games on December 5th. These aren’t the most exciting additions of the bunch, but there’s probably something here for most gamers to check out:
-
Talking Tom Blast Park : A casual cartoon shooter set in a theme park. Talking Tom is a series of games from the developer Outfit7 , if you, like me, didn’t know.
-
Barbie Color Creations+ : This game allows you to personalize Barbie dolls, create outfits, and play Barbie-themed games and activities. He also highlights the lack of in-app advertising, which is also absent from most (if not all) Apple Arcade games.
-
Hot Wheels™: Race Off+ : A multiplayer racing game featuring 30 upgradable Hot Wheels cars and 60 crazy physics tracks.
-
PAC-MAN 256+ : This version of PAC-MAC is actually almost 10 years old and reinvents the game that most of us know well at this point. It’s still PAC-MAN , but more like Crossy Road , where you run through an endless maze trying to stay alive as long as possible.
-
Boggle: Arcade Edition : As the name suggests, this is the arcade version of Boggle . You can play solo with specific goals and objectives, or go online multiplayer to play against friends, family, or strangers. It even works with SharePlay so you can play on a FaceTime call.
-
Little Cities: Diorama : Exclusive to Vision Pro , this latest game lets you build an island city in mixed reality (XR). This is the latest development from developer nDreams , who has previously created other city builders for XR.
December 9
Four days later, Apple Arcade subscribers will be able to play not one, but two Final Fantasy games:
-
FINAL FANTASY IV (3D Remake)+ : The original Final Fantasy IV came out in 1991, and this 3D remake debuted back in 2007 on the Nintendo DS. It was the first Final Fantasy game to add the now iconic Active Time Battle system. Apple says this version features updated graphics, “improved gameplay” and new voice acting.
-
FF IV: The After Years+ : If you’ve finished FFIV or played the remaster on the DS back in the day, you might want to check out The After Years+ , a direct sequel to the fourth Final Fantasy that picks up years after the story in the original. .
January 9
You’ll have the third Final Fantasy game in January, as well as six other games when you finish it:
-
FINAL FANTASY+ : If you’ve never played the first Final Fantasy game, here’s your chance. This is a remastered 2D version of the OG game with an updated user interface and new features not found in the original, such as auto combat.
-
Skate City: New York : Looks like this could be a good choice for any fans of the Skate series, or even people looking for a zen Tony Hawk experience. The game takes place in New York and you ride around the city streets, on the subway, performing stunts. A simple but interesting execution of the genre.
-
Gears & Goo : Here’s another Vision Pro XR exclusive, this time a cartoony strategy shooter. You command an army that fights an army made, as the name suggests, of slime.
-
Three Kingdoms HEROES : This is a strategy game with what Apple calls “tactical chess duels.” You can play in single player mode or online against strangers using generals from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series.
-
Trials of Mana+ : This is a mobile port of the remake of the original 1995 game, the third in the Mana series. (See a pattern here?) This rounds out the long list of RPGs you can dive into with an Apple Arcade subscription.
-
Rodeo Stampede+ : If you’ve never played Rodeo Stampede , the premise is simple: you ride around on different animals while trying to find other animals for your zoo. It’s simple but exciting.
-
It’s literally just mowing+ : the name is right. It’s a lawn mowing simulator, in the same vein as the ubiquitous farming simulators you’ve probably seen on the market. Happy mowing.
