Gemini Can Now Create Events, Notes and Tasks in Google Calendar
Since the beginning of this year, Google has been rolling out Workspace extensions for Gemini , allowing you to scan your emails (via Gmail) and documents (via Google Docs and Drive) to get responses. The latest open beta expands Gemini’s capabilities across Google Calendar, Keep, and Tasks to not only improve responses, but also enable actions such as creating, editing, or canceling calendar events across Google apps.
Here are a few things the new extensions can do:
-
In Calendar, Gemini can create events; Find events in your calendar using day, date range, or event details; and edit or cancel events.
-
In Tasks, Gemini can add reminders and tasks, and view and update task lists.
-
In Keep, Gemini can create notes and lists, add them to existing lists, and find and reference content from your notes and lists in conversations with the Gemini app.
To enable extensions, tap your profile picture in the Gemini app, select Extensions , and turn on Google Workspace to connect your account. Note that extensions for all relevant services must be enabled if your invitation includes tasks across multiple apps, such as creating a calendar event with a reminder. Otherwise, Gemini will not perform any of the actions. (Extensions for Gmail, Docs, and Drive, released in July 2024, are also in open beta.)
Google began gradually rolling out the Calendar, Tasks, and Keep extensions on October 21, and it could take up to 15 days before these features are available to eligible Google Workspace customers. Updates are only available to subscribers with the Gemini Business, Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education and Gemini Education Premium add-ons.
