This Mac App Will Show Your Colleagues’ Time Zones in the Menu Bar
Time zones are the bane of existence as a remote worker, especially if your team is international. You can try to keep track of who lives where and for how long and in what place, but my brain is not designed for this, and I know that I am not alone.
There’s a free, open-source app (there’s a name for the app—I’m not just telling you the app exists) from developer Dena Sohrabi that makes it easy to track what time it is where your coworkers live. You can add time zones and then add your own image and name. This makes it very easy for people on your team to know what time it is. Yes, there are plenty of time zone tracking apps out there, but There stands out because it focuses more on people than places.
To get started, simply launch the application, click the icon in the menu bar and click the Add button. From here you can add a name, location, and optionally an image. If you want, you can add an image manually, or simply enter your X/Twitter or Telegram username and the image will be filled in automatically.
Repeat this process for everyone you work with regularly, and you’ll have a handy guide to what time it is wherever your team works. Things like daylight saving time will be taken into account, which is especially useful if you work with people in places where there is no daylight saving time, or live in a hemisphere that switches in the opposite direction, as you do (like I said: sentinels belts are confusing). ).
It doesn’t offer much in the settings. You can decide whether people are displayed in ascending or descending order; you can also set the app to open when you start your Mac. Nothing more is offered, nor should there be. Personally, I would only add a desktop widget, which the developer notes she may add later .
