You Can Create AI-Generated Wallpapers and Screensavers for Your Google TV
AI features are becoming more common, some more useful than others. Of course, one of the most down-to-earth ways to implement this technology is to create wallpapers and screensavers for various devices. Case in point. While you may have already used generative AI to create wallpapers for your Pixel or Galaxy phone , Google is now bringing the same capabilities to Google TV devices.
This means that if you can’t find a family photo or a sweeping landscape that you want to use as a screensaver for your streaming device, you can create something out of nothing using AI – and the images can be created exactly to your specifications.
This should work on any device with Google TV as long as you have the latest update. This includes the new Google TV Streamer , as well as Chromecast with Google TV and TVs with Google TV built-in. All processing is done through the cloud, so you don’t have to rely on the components of the device itself.
Create and save AI wallpapers on Google TV
Using your remote control, go to the top navigation bar of the Google TV interface, then go to the far right of the screen and select the gear icon for all settings .
-
Select System , then Ambient Mode to see your wallpaper options.
-
Select a custom AI image to force the AI to help with the new wallpaper.
-
Here you will see all the AI wallpapers you have created.
-
Select “Create New…” if you want to create something new.
You will then need to enter a prompt for the wallpaper generator to follow, either by speaking on the remote control or using it to enter text. If you’re not sure what you want, you can use “Inspire Me” or “Suggested Templates” for help.
As usual with AI suggestions, the more detail you provide, the better – this will increase the chances that the final result will match what you had in mind. I would recommend avoiding anything too fancy as these images will be displayed on the largest screen in your home, but you can create almost anything you can imagine.
Nature and abstract ideas work well, so you can try creating things like forests and mountain ranges, as well as images with clouds and textures. Since this is an AI generation, you can also include fantasy and dream elements.
-
When the wallpaper appears, move up and down to see all the options.
-
Select Create again to create another image using the same prompt.
-
Select “Edit” if you want to change the wallpaper prompt used.
-
Select Save to add the screen image to the AI wallpaper set.
Once you’re happy with the image you’ve created, you can select Set everything as screensaver to have AI images appear when your Google TV device is in standby mode. As with the other options—both selected artwork and your own images—the program cycles through multiple images on a timer.
If you want to manage the AI images in your screensaver collection, return to the Custom AI Images page in the menu and select Manage Images . From here, you can find any images you want to delete and select Delete .
Even if AI wallpapers don’t replace your own photos or Google slideshows forever, it’s still fun to play around with the feature if you find it useful—and at least you’ll have something different for your Google screensaver TV. .
