My Seven Favorite LEGO Sets From Other Brands Are on Sale for October Prime Day

LEGO isn’t the only brick system being sold on Prime Day . Of course, most people prefer to build with LEGO bricks rather than Mold King or Kre-O, but there’s something fun and provocative about these alternatives, and they’re usually a lot cheaper than the real thing.

I’m not saying you should mix faux bricks with your real LEGO collection or use them together – I have standards – but check out these cool non-LEGO sets on sale for Prime Day. They dare to go where LEGO doesn’t go.

Coffee shop building kit with LED lighting

I’m not saying that this Coffee Shop set from Insoon is an unlicensed version of the Friends set. I say it reminds me of a non-specific TV show from the 1990s and I want to collect Jachel, Nonika, Shibi, Dandler and Pete minifigures and have coffee at the Central Cafe (Not Central Perk). Seriously though, this is a 1,589 piece building set with LED lights that is on sale for $35.99, down from $42.99, which is kind of crazy.

Breaking Bad RV Set

According to the Amazon listing, this camping kit is “from the famous TV series Breaking Bad .” It comes with blocky versions of “Walter White and Jesse Pinkman” and “Classic Caravan”. This is just one of many desert RV kits you can buy. There are pages of Breaking Bad RVs for sale on Amazon, dozens of companies making brick sets featuring campers with lab equipment, blue translucent bricks and other details we all remember from Breaking Bad . Capitalism is wild.

Mold King’s Big Pirates ship model

This is a huge non-LEGO set – 4364 pieces! At the end of the building process – which I assume will go smoothly as the instructions are complete and easy to understand – you will have a model of the Flying Dutchman . It looks cool. Later, when you take it apart, you will have many extra bricks that are compatible with “your existing brand’s toys.”

Since I’m making fake pirate ships out of LEGO, here’s a mesmerizing take on the Flying Dutchman from JMBricklayer, complete with creepy green lights, ragged sails, glow-in-the-dark elements, and an octopus banner that certainly doesn’t remind me of any Disney pirate property. This set is on sale for $47.95 with a 40% discount, which is a good deal, at least according to the product’s advertising copy, which promises: “The original JMBricklayer Pirate Ship Dice Set is like no other, making it a great value . property for collectors.”

Demon Slayer Sword

If you’re a giant fucking nerd and showing off a replica sword doesn’t get the point across enough, may I suggest a replica sword made from fake LEGO bricks? This baby is only $31.99 on Prime Day, a small price to pay to keep your virginity.

Typewriter, Walkman, TV

There is something touching about the brick models of yesterday’s technical objects. On the one hand, who wants to immortalize crappy consumer products with homemade sculptures? On the other hand, I want to. Either way, if you want to build a typewriter, Walkman, or TV out of plastic bricks , you can now do so for a low Prime Day price. I really think the TV looks cool.

Magic Pig Castle with Harry’s Characteristics

Credit: Amazon

The copy on the Amazon page for Pig’s Magical Castle with Harry Features promises that it is a “Fantastic Harry’s Toy for Adults,” which makes me think there’s something dirty about Pig’s Castle with Harry Features, but it goes on to say, “The outgoing Warts’ Magical Castle ” The set of building blocks for architecture is made up of small particles,” and that just baffles me. Even for a fake LEGO set, it looks cheesy; I just thought the name was funny.
