The Most Common Netflix Error Codes (and How to Fix Them)
Download Netflix on whatever device you use and you’ll want to start immersing yourself in entertainment as soon as possible rather than staring at an error message popping up on your screen.
To help you troubleshoot problems, Netflix will often provide an error code along with an apology that something went wrong. If you know what this code means, you can start troubleshooting the problem, and that’s where this list comes in.
Here are the codes people see most often, based on how high they appear in Netflix’s official help documentation. If the code you see is not listed here, check any messages that also appear on your screen and go to the Netflix Help Center .
Netflix Error Code (-12)
Netflix error codes actually start with negatives, and the error code (-12) refers to some good old-fashioned network connection problems: essentially, your internet isn’t working properly. To do this, you’ll need to follow the usual troubleshooting steps , including checking whether your other devices and apps can connect to the Internet.
Netflix Error Code (-1001)
This error code appears when your device is having trouble connecting to the Netflix service. This could mean your internet is down, it could mean your device can’t connect to the internet, or it could mean Netflix is crashing ( check it here ). Try Netflix on another device to determine the cause of the problem.
Netflix Error Code (-1014)
If you see an error code (-1014), it means Netflix needs to update some app data. The recommended solution is to log out of Netflix and then log back in. For example, if you’re using the app on your phone, you can sign out by tapping My Profile , then the three-line button in the top right corner, then Sign Out, and sign out again to confirm.
Netflix Error Code 117
This is due to data corruption inside the Netflix app and the best way to fix this problem is to completely uninstall Netflix from whatever device you are using it on and then reinstall it. For example, if you’re using an iPhone, long-press the Netflix app icon on your home screen: Select Uninstall App > Uninstall App > Uninstall to remove it from your device.
Netflix error code 1001 or 10002
Error codes 1001 and 10002 are specific to iPhones and iPads and, according to Netflix, mean “there is information stored on your device that needs to be updated.” Try restarting your phone or tablet first to fix the problem, and if that doesn’t work, uninstall and reinstall the Netflix app. You should also install any pending iOS or iPadOS updates.
Netflix error code 1003
Error code 1003—sometimes accompanied by a message telling you to “please try again later”—means you’re dealing with outdated data or an outdated app that needs to be updated. It’s best to make sure your device’s software is up to date, and then check for updates to the Netflix app (and reinstall the app if necessary).
Netflix Error Code 1018
This is usually displayed on Android devices and indicates data that needs to be updated. Reboot your device, and if that doesn’t help, clear your data cache in the Netflix app (via Apps > Netflix > Storage & Cache in Android Settings). If you still have problems with the same error code after doing this, then uninstall the Netflix app from your device and reinstall it.
Netflix error code 1044
If Netflix error code 1044 appears on your screen, you will be using a TV, TV streaming device, cable box, or some Android device to watch Netflix. According to Netflix, if you keep getting this error, it means Netflix doesn’t support your device (these devices do ), although it’s also a good idea to try rebooting your device and reinstalling Netflix.
Netflix Error Code C7111-5095 or F7111-5095
According to Netflix, error codes C7111-5095 and F7111-5095 mean “there may be a problem with your account.” This usually appears because you are trying to use Netflix in another country or because your membership is part of a larger subscription package or was purchased through a third party – try contacting Netflix support directly for further assistance.
Netflix Error Code (DLS.101)
If this error appears, it means there is a problem with one of the downloaded shows or movies you are trying to watch, especially on an Android device. To work around this issue, you need to delete the download: Go to the My Profile tab in the app, then select Downloads to view and delete downloaded items. You can then re-download the content.
Netflix Error Code E101

Netflix Error Code S7353-5101
Watching Netflix on a Mac may result in error code S7353-5101, which means that some of the information Netflix stores on your device needs to be updated. The troubleshooting steps that Netflix recommends are to first try shutting down and restarting your Mac, and then checking for any pending macOS software updates.
Netflix Error Code S7701-1003
Error code S7701-1003 is one of the more specific ones: it means that you are trying to watch Netflix through Safari on your iPad or Mac, and that Safari is currently in private browsing mode. If you open a new browser window that doesn’t have private browsing enabled, and then log into Netflix, you’ll find that you can stream movies and shows as normal again.

Error codes tvq-pb-101 (E104) or tvq-pb-101 (1.10.5005) are displayed when the device you’re using doesn’t actually support Netflix playback—you won’t actually be able to watch Netflix on any hardware. You can contact the manufacturer for advice or switch to a devicethat supports Netflix .
