My Favorite Amazon Deal of the Day: SHOKZ OpenMove Bone Conduction Headphones

When it comes to bone conduction headphones, Shokz is the biggest brand in the market. While their affordable SHOKZ OpenMove headphones didn’t make the list of the best bone conduction headphones of 2024 , they are still the best entry-level bone conduction headphones you can buy, which is useful if you want to test out the whole bone conduction thing before than to go all-in. Right now you can buy them for $54.99 (originally $79.95) on Amazon, which is the lowest price they’ve ever offered, according to price checker tools .

Bone conduction allows you to listen to music with your ears open to the outside world, and also allows you to listen underwater (provided the headphones are waterproof). The technology works with amplifiers that send vibrations, rather than sound, which your bones then send to your brain so you can hear the media. It’s very nice to know that you’re listening to vibration rather than traditional speakers. The goal is to be able to hear your surroundings while working out outdoors for safety purposes, but they’re also great for the office when you want to hear if a coworker is calling you.

The Shokz OpenMove is the simplest of the three headphones, with the Shokz OpenRun and Shokz OpenRun Pro being higher end. They have the shortest battery life at six hours of playback and are IPX55 waterproof (meaning they can’t be submerged in water). There’s very little noise cancellation, so you won’t have to worry about people around you hearing your music.

In my experience with bone conduction headphones, they are great for any outdoor activity, but terrible for the gym. Gyms are noisy and most of them already have music playing, so unless you like listening to two songs at once, I suggest looking into over-ear or in-ear headphones. I really enjoy using them at home when I’m doing household chores and talking to people around me without pausing or removing the headphones.
