What’s New on Netflix in August 2024

Netflix’s August lineup highlights include the return of two popular original series, starting with season four of The Umbrella Academy (August 8). In this final six-part installment, the Hargreeves siblings – scattered and stripped of their powers after the showdown at Hotel Oblivion at the end of season three – are set to reunite. Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally and David Cross join the returning cast. Also in the fourth season of Emily in Paris , the first part will be released on August 15.

Two films with star-studded casts are coming to the platform this month: In “Union” (Aug. 16), Mark Wahlberg plays a construction worker who, while living in his hometown, is recruited by his high school sweetheart (Halle Berry) for a reconnaissance mission in Europe. The cast also includes Mike Colter, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jessica De Gouw, Alice Lee, Jackie Earle Haley and J.K. Simmons.

At the end of the month, check out Deliverance (August 30), a horror thriller directed by Oscar nominee Lee Daniels and starring Andra Day and Glenn Close.

On the documentary side, there are two new parts of the Netflix series Untold , which tell stories from the world of sports. “Untold: The Assassination of Air McNair” (Aug. 20) tells the story of the 2009 murder of NFL quarterback Steve McNair, while “Untold: Sign Thief” (Aug. 27) reveals the story of a football sign-stealing operation in Michigan that became a cheating scandal during the 2023 season. of the year.

Finally, for those who have enjoyed nature documentation since Blue Planet , there’s The Secret World of Sound with David Attenborough (7 August).
