Basically, We Already Know Everything About the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6.

Samsung Unpacked 2024 is almost here. On Wednesday, July 10, Samsung will unveil the next generation of select Galaxy devices, including successors to the Galaxy Watch 6 , a new smart ring , and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. You don’t have to wait until unboxing to check out the new foldable devices, though: they’re practically completely leaked.

As The Verge reports , host Evan Blass shared Samsung’s promotional materials and specs for the Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6. If these documents are legitimate (and they are), we’ll get our first look at Samsung. new foldable items half a week earlier.

Spoiler alert: Samsung hasn’t made any major changes to either the Z Fold or Z Flip. These are very subtle updates. But it is worth noting several interesting features.

Galaxy Z Flip 6

Samsung’s latest folding phone is similar to the Z Flip 5, but slightly lighter and thinner. The leaked marketing materials show off some interesting new features, such as the addition of a translator mode that displays translated text on the front display; new 50 MP camera compared to 12 MP on the Z Flip 5; and a steam chamber for cooling.

Here’s what the phone looks like on paper, according to supposed leaks:

  • Display: 6.7″ OLED 2640 x 1080 with 120Hz refresh rate (main), 3.4″ IPS 720 x 748 (front)

  • Cameras: ultra-wide 12 MP, wide 50 MP, front 10 MP.

  • Battery: 4000 mAh, up to 23 hours video playback

  • SoC: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 12 GB RAM

  • Memory: 256 GB

Galaxy Z-fold 6

According to The Verge, at first glance, Samsung isn’t adding as many new features to the Z Fold 6 as it was to the Z Flip 6. The Z Fold 6 doesn’t have an additional translator mode or vapor chamber for cooling.

However, there are some interesting changes compared to last year’s Z Fold 5: the display brightness is expected to reach 2,600 nits, compared to the Z Fold 5’s maximum 1,750 nits. Like the Z Flip 6, the Z Fold 6 will also feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which , according to Samsung, has a 42% increase in NPU (the part of the chip that processes artificial intelligence). Samsung is also touting new artificial intelligence features, such as a new AI zoom that should theoretically result in sharper close-ups.

Additionally, the Z Fold 6 is thinner and lighter than previous models and features a new aluminum frame. That said, there aren’t any radical changes here: if you have a Z Fold 5 (or perhaps an older Z Fold device), you might not feel a huge push to upgrade.

  • Displays: 7.6″ OLED with 2160 x 1856 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate (main), 6.3″ OLED (front)

  • Cameras: ultra-wide 12 MP (F2.2), 50 MP (F1.8), 10 MP (F2.4)

  • Battery: 4400 mAh, up to 23 hours video playback

  • SoC: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 12 GB RAM

  • Memory: 512 GB
