Create an “organization Wall” for Your Accessories

I’m constantly making some kind of organizational changes, whether it’s buying furniture for storage or remodeling a makeup shelf . My current passion is creating what I call an “organization wall,” an idea that came to me after I started seeing a surprisingly large variety of adhesive hooks and holders on the market. Here’s what I do and how you can use this trick too.

What is a warehouse wall?

It all started when I was shopping online and adhesive sunglass holders were recommended to me. They were similar to the display cases you see in a store, each specifically designed to hold one pair of glasses and one pair only.

I’m a big proponent of keeping accessories and everything I wear visible so I always know what I have and can better imagine how it will look with my outfit, but when it came to sunglasses, I didn’t follow my own rules. Each of my glasses was in its original case and then stacked on the window sill, which meant I almost always wore black ones since I didn’t want to go through the hassle of finding and opening all the cases.

While contemplating a solution, I looked around and realized that there was plenty of free space next to the mirror I use to get ready, so placing my sunglasses there would be an effective, useful, and safe way to store them. Here are the types of custom sunglasses holders that sparked all this:

I bought 10 from Shein, but you can also buy sets of three for $12.99 on Amazon . After hanging all my sunglasses and selling their cases on Poshmark , I started thinking about where else I could use special adhesive holders to attach them to the wall.

I live in a small apartment where storage space is hard to find, but I adhere to the Organizational Triangle rules , which dictate that each item should have a designated place and be stored together with similar items. There are only so many tiny baskets you can stack before even they start to become cluttered, so I prefer to keep them as decoration. (For example, I started hanging all my bags on hooks and chains throughout the house.)

An organization wall doesn’t have to be for clothes; it can go anywhere. For example, in a pantry or pantry, you can make use of empty wall space with adhesive hooks designed to hold spray bottles. The hallway wall is a great place to install durable hooks to hold keys, umbrellas, jackets and scarves. ( They weigh 44 pounds each , and a set of 10 costs $9.49.) In my kitchen, I use adhesive holders for all my rags, towels, and potholders. (I have these from Shein, $1.10 each .)

My storage wall

In addition to the sunglass holders, I ordered this to transform the wall around the mirrors where I get ready into versatile storage that will allow me to see my accessories and tools.

I bought this hot tool holder to keep my Dyson AirWrap, currently stored in its original box, on the floor under the mirror – not ideal. This sleek, adhesive-backed stand keeps it upright and accessible while you dry and curl your hair.

To accommodate all the Dyson attachments, I have a sticky box right above it:

To store hairsprays, gels, creams, and other crap that I drip into my hair, I bought these bottle holsters. I really like them because you can either keep them together or cut between them to create five small adhesive-backed shelves that you can arrange however you want.

Next I have adhesive hat holders. They are simply vertical L-shaped sticks with adhesive backing designed to slide into the hole of a baseball cap. This seemed like a great idea before I realized that they were perfect for storing belts too, using a new belt folding method I learned two weeks ago. When I started folding the straps this way, I recommended purchasing a paper towel rack to store them, but this works even better for me. Naturally, I received four packages.

Lastly, I have a few small hooks (four for $9.98) that I hang ribbons on that I can attach various pins, bows, and hair accessories to. Again, at least for me, if something is out of sight then it’s out of mind, so I regularly run into the problem where I realize I have the perfect accessory to wear with an outfit but completely forget because I just didn’t see it.
