My Favorite Amazon Deal of the Day: Eero Mesh Wi-Fi Router
The first Amazon Prime Day deals are here, with deals on school supplies , TVs , Blink security cameras and more ahead of Prime Day on July 16th. Another offer has arrived, this time for an Eero router that can help your Wi-Fi reach every area of your home. Amazon has a single router that extends your Wi-Fi area to 1,500 square feet for $39.99 (originally $69.99) or a three-router set that extends your Wi-Fi area to 4,500 square feet for $99 $.99 (originally $214.96).
Mesh Wi-Fi is good if you can justify the expense of additional devices. This doesn’t make your Internet faster per se, it just increases the same speed of your router at different points in your home so that the whole house (ideally) is covered. Mesh Wi-Fi uses nodes or points that you can physically place around your home where the signal is weak, so your devices seamlessly connect to whichever device has the best connection as you move around your home. It’s like copying and pasting your router into different places.
The Eero router extends your coverage to 1,500 square feet, and each router acts as a router or ” extender .” One of the Eero devices must be physically connected to your router using an Ethernet cable. The other two simply need to be connected to the network using a power cord and be a certain distance from the main router.
If you’re more of a Google fan, a three-pack of Google Nest Wi-Fi routers is also available for $155.23 (originally $349.99). They work the same way, but expand your Wi-Fi area to 5,400 square feet, with each point serving as a Google smart speaker.
