Install IOS 14.5 Beta 2 to Fix IPhone 12 Green Tint Error

While it is generally recommended for most people to avoid installing the iOS Developer Beta on their main portable devices, this advice is not appropriate if your iPhone 12 has been plagued by the weird green tint problem lately.

As we reported back in November , some iPhone 12 models experienced a bizarre display error that gives your device an eerie green tint when viewing darker images or completely black backgrounds. Chances are, you’ve already noticed that something is wrong, but if not, then this video will give you an idea of what the green tint looks like:

Good news? It appears to be a software issue that is much easier to deal with than a hardware issue. But it also means that those affected must wait for Apple to release an official solution to the problem, rather than rush to the nearest Apple Store and demand a replacement phone.

This fix is already in development – in fact, it’s already here , but you’ll have to install the latest iOS beta to take advantage of it. It will also give you access to many other exciting new features, including many new emojis, new swipe gestures in the Music app, a new feature for sharing lyrics from Apple Music, and several new quick actions (including the ability to take screenshots faster).

However, you might have to deal with OS instability and / or application issues if you choose the developer beta. Only you can decide if repairing a green-tinted screen is worth the potential hassle. (If you are not suffering from this issue, you should probably wait for the public beta and / or the official release of iOS 14.5.)

Before installing iOS 14.5 Developer Beta 2, please make a full backup of your device. Then visit Beta Profiles in Safari on iPhone. Install the iOS profile, restart your iPhone when asked, and run the software update to get the latest beta. Please note that after the official release of iOS 14.5 has been released and installed, you can remove the beta profile from your device via Settings> General> Profile .

If you run into problems with the developer beta, you can always go back to regular iOS 14.4. However, you will be restoring from your backup , which means that anything you have done since then that has not been saved to the cloud (or elsewhere) will no longer exist.
