How to Watch Google I/O 2024 (and What to Expect)
It’s that time of year again: Google is preparing for I/O, the software company’s annual event. Like Apple WWDC, Google I/O is actually a developer conference rather than a traditional product announcement. But while app developers may attend their own dedicated events, the rest of us are really here for consumer-oriented software news. For Google I/O, this means a lot of artificial intelligence.
Google I/O and Artificial Intelligence
Google has been promoting its artificial intelligence services for some time now. Once called Bard, Gemini is present almost everywhere Google is: there is now a paid version of the service , just like ChatGPT Plus , and the technology now powers many of Google’s artificial intelligence features on Android , Workspace , Maps , and other devices.
Artificial intelligence is the current trend in technology and it doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. Expect Google to continue the conversation by exploring its vision for using AI across its product line, especially as it relates to search. (Of course, search is still the company’s core business.)
Of course, Google will likely use this event as an opportunity to show off Android 15, which is currently in beta . Perhaps the company will expand on features we already know about , such as granular control over the number of notifications an app can send, a high-quality webcam mode, and partial screen sharing, among others. It’s also possible that we’ll see some new features not yet tested in beta, as well as other new features in Google’s product line.
While it’s possible that the company will announce hardware, the focus will be on software. However, the company will undoubtedly take note of the recent launch of the Pixel 8a .
