You Need to Clean the Dyson Airwrap Filter

The Dyson Airwrap is the favorite hair care accessory of the moment, but it’s also quite expensive, so if you’ve made it a part of your routine, you’ll probably want it to last a long time. In this case, you should definitely clean the Airwrap filter regularly.

Why is the white light flashing on my Dyson Airwrap?

Sorry if you didn’t know you needed to do this because it’s not entirely obvious. If you didn’t take a close look at the box your hair tool came in, you might even have missed the tiny round cleaning brush hidden in the back compartment. But you definitely need to do this: if you leave it uncleaned for too long, the first thing that will happen is a flashing white warning light. The second thing that will happen is that your device will turn off out of nowhere while in use and refuse to turn on again for 10 to 15 minutes, leaving you with hair that is half dry and frizzy and half just wet.

Avoid this fate by cleaning your filter properly.

How to Clean a Dyson Airwrap Filter

This process is quite simple, but you will need to do this at least a few hours before you want to use the machine to give the parts time to soak and dry.

  1. First remove the filter cover. It’s a small dotted square at the bottom of the handle, just above where the electrical cord connects. Grab it firmly and twist it counterclockwise, pulling down and away from the air film. The magnetic seam on the back will open and should come off easily.

  1. Place the filter under running warm water, then place it in a container of warm, soapy water and soak for about half an hour.

  2. Take the filter cleaning brush from the box the machine came in. (It should be in a smaller box tucked somewhere in a larger container.) Thread the power cord through the hole in the brush and move the brush to where the filter cover is. usually clamped and moved in a circular motion up and down to remove anything stuck there. (If you don’t have this brush, you can try a stiff-bristled brush, such as an old toothbrush, but never put anything wet on the body of the device.)

  1. After half an hour, remove the filter from the soapy water and let it air dry. Do not reattach it until it is completely dry.

If cleaning does not help stop the white light from flashing

If you clean the filter and the LED is still blinking, you may need to replace the filter cap. Dyson sells them for $19.99 , but if they’re out of stock, which happens from time to time, Amazon offers third-party filter covers for just $13.68 (and they also come with replacement cleaning brushes).
