Like most tech products, the Apple Watch has a base model ( SE ), a mid-range model ( Series 9 ), and a high-end version ( Ultra 2 ). But the Series 9 is arguably the best value for money, with plenty of premium features and design, while being priced closer to the SE than the Ultra 2. The Apple Watch Series 9 currently costs $299 for the GPS version (originally ). $399) and $399 for GPS and cellular versions (originally $499), both at their lowest prices since their release, according to Price Checker Tools .
If you’re not sure which option is better for you: Series 9 or Ultra 2 , you can read our full disclosure. Essentially, the Series 9 is a smaller watch with fewer outdoor features than the Ultra 2. But if you’re looking to save a few hundred dollars and don’t need a brighter screen or more rugged design, the Series 9 is a good choice . PCMag gave the Series 9 an “outstanding” score for its powerful processor, sought-after double-tap gesture for hands-free operation, access to Siri, the ability to search for iPhone 15 with Precise Search, and a vibrant display.
To choose between the GPS and cellular versions, ask yourself if you want to be able to access your phone without carrying it with you or being on the same network. Should you run without your iPhone, play music on AirPods, and take calls? If so, consider versions with GPS and cellular connectivity. You’ll still be able to do these things with the GPS version as long as you’re on the same Wi-Fi network as your phone or within Bluetooth range.
Currently, both versions only have a 41mm screen size available, but both are available in sizes ranging from 130mm to 200mm.
