When the pandemic first hit us and locked us in our homes, many of us were struck by the same burst of inspiration (after we bought toilet paper): we decided to bake bread. All of this kneading, lifting and summoning the smell of fresh bread in our homes was something we could focus on when life outside our front door seemed too intimidating to navigate. Cooking and baking are rewarding life skills to learn, but they can also be soothing and entertaining when we need to soothe and entertain – which is why we should also share these experiences with our children.
Pulling out the flour and sugar to whip into the muffins is great.
