How to Share a Game on PS5
One of the dangers with digital games is that they become harder to share. If you have the PlayStation 5 (PS5) disc option , you can simply buy physical media for your favorite games and share them with your friends when you’re done playing. On the other hand, if your purchases are digital or you have a PS5 Digital Edition, you’ll have to use a different method to trade games on your PS5.
How to enable game sharing on PS5
First, you need to decide whether you’re going to share games using your PS5 or someone else’s console. If it’s your console, this feature is enabled by default, but your friend will have to turn it off on their PS5. Likewise, if you want to use your friend’s console to share games, you’ll have to disable this feature on your PS5.
To turn off console sharing and offline play on a console you don’t want to use for game sharing, go to Settings > Users & Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play . You can disable this feature here.
On the console you use for game sharing, make sure this feature is enabled. To do this, go to Settings > Users & Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play and select Keep On .
Then simply log into the game on PS5 with your PSN account. Now the games from your friend’s library will appear on your console, and you can play them whenever you want.
Limitations of game sharing on PS5
You can only share a game on one console at a time. Game sharing also works both ways: your games will appear on your friend’s console, and their games will be available on yours. Only one of two people can access the other person’s games at the same time. This means that if you play a game from your friend’s library, they won’t be able to access games from your library. The moment you stop playing, they will be able to play any game you purchased.
Remotely disable console sharing
Sony allows you to remotely deactivate console sharing, which is useful if your gaming console is inaccessible. You can log into your PSN account in any browser by going to the Manage PSN Account page and selecting Device Management > PlayStation Consoles . Select Deactivate All Devices to remove all devices from console sharing. Remember, this option can only be used once every six months, so proceed with caution.
