How to Get a Refund for Steam Games
Whether you bought a game on Steam on impulse or by accident – or simply changed your mind – you can get a refund if you haven’t played the game for more than two hours within 14 days of purchase.
How to get money back for games on Steam
To request a refund, go to the Steam support page in your web browser and sign in to your Steam account (click the Sign in to Steam button if you’re not already signed in).
In the Recent Purchases section, you’ll be able to see all the games you’ve purchased in the last six months, but you’ll only be able to request a refund for purchases made in the last 14 days.
Select the game you want a refund for and the problem with the product (you can also add notes to your request). Select “I want to request a refund” and select a refund method from the drop-down menu – either your card or your Steam wallet. You can also receive a refund to your PayPal account. Then submit the refund request form.
You should receive an email confirming your request. Steam will either accept or reject the request within a week, and it may take up to seven days for the refund to be credited to your account. If a refund is requested within 24 hours of purchase, the transaction will simply be cancelled.
Which Steam games are refundable?
Steam games purchased within the last 14 days and played for 120 minutes or less may be eligible for a refund . Refunds for pre-orders can be received within 14 days of the order being posted, not the date of purchase. Game packs and gifts are also refundable if they do not exceed the 14-day period and 120-minute play limit.
You have 14 to 30 days to return your Steam hardware, with refunds depending on the device.
Steam movies, like some in-game purchases, are non-refundable.
