Apple Just Surprise Introduced the New MacBook Air M3
Apple has officially unveiled its new series of M3-based MacBook Air laptops, with the surprise announcement coming in a press release on Monday morning. The latest models are available in both the proven 13-inch variant and the largest 15-inch variant, which was recently introduced. Apple says performance is even better than the previous generation and that it offers faster Wi-Fi, up to 18 hours of battery life and support for up to two external displays.
Apple says the M3-powered MacBook Air is up to 60 percent faster than the model with the M1 chip and up to 13 times faster than the latest Intel-based MacBook Air. The star of the show, of course, is the new Neural Engine in the M3 chip, which Apple says helps power the Liquid Retina display and delivers twice the Wi-Fi speeds.
The laptop body is made of aluminum and is available in four different colors: midnight, space gray, starry and silver.
The new M3-based MacBook Airs will go on sale starting Friday, March 8, with starting prices starting at $1,099 for the 13-inch MacBook Air and starting at $1,299 for the 15-inch MacBook Air . In the US, teachers will be able to purchase two new laptops starting at $999 and $1,199, respectively.
Another interesting change to the M3-based MacBook Air is that it will be the first Apple product made from 50 percent recycled material, including a 100 percent recycled aluminum body, 100 percent recycled rare earth elements in all magnets, and even 100 percent recycled rare earth elements in all magnets. percentage of recycled copper in the main motherboard.
Both the 13-inch and 15-inch M3-based MacBook Air will deliver up to 500 nits of brightness and support 1 billion colors. Apple also says it will be the “world’s best consumer laptop for artificial intelligence” and plans to use the 16-core Neural Engine to accelerate on-device machine learning and other intelligent features.
In terms of actual specs, Apple says the M3 chip will power the 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU in the 13-inch M3 MacBook Air. There’s also an upgrade option with a 10-core GPU and 8GB of memory, which will cost you an extra $100 if you need the extra power. The 13-inch MacBook Air will be available with 16GB of combined memory and 512GB of SSD storage, and upgrading to 16GB will also give you an upgraded 10-core GPU.
While both options are good in terms of the upgrades they offer, if you think you’ll need a 10-core GPU, it’s best to also go for 16GB of memory. That’s just $100 more than upgrading to a 10-core GPU, and it gives you twice the memory to work with, which you’ll be glad to have once you start doing more intensive tasks.
As for the new M3-based 15-inch MacBook Air, Apple will offer up to 16GB of unified memory and 512GB of SSD storage, and will have the same 8-core processor and 10-core GPU across all storage options.
You can pre-order the new 13-inch MacBook Air with M3 or the new 15-inch MacBook Air with M3 starting today.
