Apple Has Created an Application for Sports Results Without Advertising
Basically, every sports app is a bloated nightmare. You just want to check the results, but these apps want you to do something completely different (maybe gambling?). Whether I’m using the league’s official apps or those offered by a network like ESPN, it always takes a few taps to get what I want—and that’s after waiting for pictures and sports headlines to load, and I don’t care. O.
That’s why Apple Sports is a breath of fresh air. Launched last week in the US, UK and Canada, the app shows you the results of your chosen leagues and teams… and literally nothing else. There are no news articles, no videos, and even no advertisements. It’s literally just points.
Install this app and you can choose which teams and leagues to follow. (All the teams and leagues you follow on Apple News or Apple TV will already be selected, but you can add more.) Once setup is complete, using the app couldn’t be easier: Just launch it and you’ll see the results. , whether from your favorite leagues or just your favorite teams, it’s up to you. You can also quickly view leagues that you haven’t marked as favorites.
The app currently supports NBA, NHL, MLS, NWSL and NCAA basketball, as well as the major men’s soccer leagues in Europe and Mexico. You’ll notice a lack of support for the NFL, college football, WNBA, and MLB— according to Apple , support for those leagues will be coming in time for their respective seasons.
This app is not perfect. First, there’s no support for Apple widgets or live events . Both would be great additions, but Apple Sports loads so quickly and is thankfully free of ads and other distractions that I don’t mind opening the app to use it.
