All New Features Coming Soon to Your Android Devices

Google has announced that your Android devices will be getting a number of new features in the coming weeks. These features include the ability to quickly respond via Android Auto, easier access to Gemini AI, handwritten feedback in Google Docs, and more. A full list of features will appear soon.

Wear OS receives public transport routes

Google Maps public transport routes will appear on Wear OS smartwatches. This means you don’t have to take out your phone to navigate, but can instead glance at your wrist to make sure you’re heading in the right direction.

Add handwritten notes to Google Docs.

The Google Docs interface is easier to use on computers than phones, but Google is introducing a change that will make it more mobile-friendly. When you edit a Google Doc on your Android phone, you can add handwritten annotations and reviews with your finger or stylus.

Android Auto Text Replies

Enhancements to Android Auto will allow you to summarize text conversations and suggest replies so you can respond faster on the go while minimizing distractions. Google says it will use artificial intelligence to show you more relevant answers, such as a button to share your ETA from Google Maps when someone asks how far away you are.

Gemini in Google Messages

Google’s Gemini AI will be integrated into Google Messages. You can use AI to generate event ideas, compose messages, or communicate with Gemini right in the Google Messages app.

All your health data in one place

The Fitbit app for Android has been redesigned to show your health data from other fitness apps and wearables. Google says data from the AllTrails and MyFitnessPal apps, as well as the Oura Ring wearable device, can be viewed in the Fitbit app.

Casting controls for Spotify

Spotify Connect lets you stream audio from Spotify to other devices in your home. The latest Android update will add Spotify Connect devices to the output switch, making it easier to stream audio using Spotify.

Improved accessibility features

Google is adding two great accessibility features to Android – an improved screen reader in Google Lens and image captions in Lookout. An Android screen reader will be able to read Google Maps ratings, opening and closing hours, and directions to any location your camera points to in Google Lens. Android will also read AI-generated image captions on your phone and on the web.

Other recent new features

• Highlighting Videos in Google Photos . Google Photos allows you to enter a few prompts, such as location and year or month, and will automatically create a highlighted video using all the photos and videos that match your filters.

• Shared listings in Google Maps . You can use Google Maps to make plans with your friends . You can create a shared list for multiple people and add places to visit and notes to explain your choices.

• Reply to emails quickly : Gmail recently started letting you reply to emails from your Wear OS smartwatch.

• Backup protected photos . A locked Google Photos folder can now be saved to the cloud, allowing you to access your password-protected photos from any device.
