How to Customize Google Home Page

Searching for things on Google has become an integral part of being online. In most web browsers, you can easily search Google using the address bar, but if you prefer to go to Google.com first before searching, there are a few ways to set it up.

How to enable dark mode for Google search

Enabling dark mode is easy; just go to Google.com and in the bottom right corner click on Settings and a menu will pop up with a Dark Theme option. Once enabled, your search results will now have a dark background instead of the usual white background.

How to Customize Chrome Home Page

If you’re an avid Google Chrome user, there’s a good chance your home page is already set to Google.com . Otherwise, when you open a new tab, you should see the Google search bar along with recent tabs, as well as easy access to Gmail, images, and other Google apps and services. However, you can customize this page in a few steps. First, open a new tab and in the bottom right corner; you should see a button that says “Customize Chrome” with a pencil icon next to it. Click this button to open a screen where you can change the look of Chrome using different colors. When you change the color, it also changes the theme of your actual Chrome browser. There is also an option to disable shortcuts by clicking the switch. If you prefer to save shortcuts, you can choose between shortcuts you create or shortcuts based on sites you visit frequently.

On the same setup screen there should be a “Change Theme” button; tap this to open other options to customize Chrome using art from different types of artists (such as artwork from Asia Pacific or LGBTQ+ artists) or from categories such as Landscapes, Textures, Earth, “Cityscapes”, etc. There is also the option to upload your own images as Chrome backgrounds.

How to install themes from the Chrome Web Store

For even more customization options, you can customize Chrome with themes from the Chrome Web Store . To see the available themes, open a new tab, click Customize Chrome, and click Change Theme . Select the Chrome Web Store at the bottom and a new tab will open with the themes landing page. When you find a theme you like, click to go to its page, then click the blue Add to Chrome button , and within seconds your Chrome theme should change.
