The Coolest Computer Technology From CES 2024

Last week’s CES 2024 saw a slew of product announcements and new technology showcases, not least a slew of new PC peripherals and the debut of Nvidia’s Super 40 series GPUs. Not everything considered worthy of showing off at CES is. exciting and some things definitely impressed me more than others.

Now that the dust has settled on the show for another year, and to celebrate some of the coolest computing technology unveiled at CES 2024, let’s take a look at three of my favorite announcements.

Gaming PC ROG NUC

At this point, giant gaming rigs have been popular among PC gamers for years, but that’s slowly changing as more and more smaller builds hit the market. One of the coolest devices unveiled at CES 2024 this year is the ROG NUC gaming PC .

This little box is a mini PC powered by your choice of Intel Core Ultra 9, Core Ultra 7 processor, and Nvidia RTX 4060 or 4070 GPU. You can also configure it with up to 32GB of RAM, which means you can replace your giant gaming rig with a reliable machine that takes up a fraction of the space.

Nvidia RTX 40 Super Series GPUs

Of course, I can’t talk about the great PC news from CES without touching on the debut of Nvidia’s new RTX 40 Super series GPUs . These next-generation GPUs offer minor improvements over the original 4070, 4070 Ti, and 4080 cards, but they come at a much more affordable price. The new RTX 4070 super improves on Nvidia’s already excellent mid-range GPU option while offering a similar price.

ASUS BTF Ecosystem

ASUS didn’t stop with a new variant of the ROG gaming PC. The company is also trying to make the lives of PC builders – both professionals and beginners – much easier with its ecosystem of BTF (back to the future) components. This ecosystem includes specially designed cases, motherboards, and even graphics cards that greatly simplify cable management by allowing cables to be hidden behind the motherboard rather than in front of it.

It’s an intriguing system that makes me excited about the prospect of building a new PC with these components, and I can’t wait to see what ASUS does with the BTF ecosystem in the future.

Honorable Mentions

There were plenty of other cool and/or wacky things unveiled at CES 2024, including the MSI Claw and the upcoming HP Transcend 32 . The latter brings an impressive display and KVM support to your desk on a large 32-inch monitor, and while I won’t go into too much detail about the Claw here, my Lifehacker colleague Pranay Parab talks about it in more detail in his guide to the coolest and weird gaming hardware we saw at CES 2024 .
