The Best Kindle for Any Type of Reading

Ever since Amazon first released the Kindle, it has remained one of the best (and most popular) e-readers on the market. But now there are many different types of Kindle, so finding the right model for you becomes a little more difficult. I’ll review each model and explain the pros and cons to help you narrow down your choices.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

When it comes to Kindle e-readers, it’s almost impossible to beat the Kindle Paperwhite. Not only is it easy to hold, but the e-ink display makes it easy to read in any light, providing a good balance of performance for the price. It doesn’t support wireless charging, although you can use the more expensive Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition if you really need it.

If you just want a great all-around Kindle, the Paperwhite is certainly the easiest to recommend. It’s also under $200, even without ads, and you’ll get several weeks of battery life depending on how often you read. I used the Paperwhite for several months and rarely had to charge it, reading for an hour or two a day. You can buy the Kindle Paperwhite ad-free for $159.99 for the 8GB variant and $169.99 for the 16GB variant.

Amazon Kindle Children’s Edition

If you have children, the Amazon Kindle Kids Edition is a good choice. It’s a simplified version of the original Kindle with decent resolution and a kid-friendly interface. It also comes with an Amazon Kids+ subscription, offers several colorful cases, and has a two-year warranty for added convenience. PCMag calls it “terrific,” giving it four out of five stars.

If you want to spend under $100 on a Kindle e-reader, the basic version of the Amazon Kindle is a good choice. According to Amazon, the device features an adjustable front light, 16GB of internal storage, and is the lightest and smallest Kindle yet. You can purchase it with or without lock screen ads, giving you the opportunity to spend a little less to see ads for various books when it’s locked. This is a good deal if you don’t need the extra warm light control of the Paperwhite.

Amazon Kindle Oasis

One of the pricier options, the Kindle Oasis costs nearly twice as much as any other Kindle on the market, and for good reason. It has the same size display as other models, but has physical page turn buttons that will provide a more comfortable experience for those who don’t like touch controls. There is an 8GB and 32GB storage option, and you can purchase it with or without lock screen ads, depending on what kind of experience you’re looking for. Oasis is also completely waterproof and works with Audible right out of the box. PCMag also gives it four stars .

You can purchase the Kindle Oasis for $269.99 without ads, although buying it with ads will save you about $20.

Kindle the scribe

If you love taking notes or just want a much larger e-reader, Kindle Scribe has become one of my favorites . I bought it late last year, and despite its high price, it’s the best Kindle I’ve ever used. It can be a little cumbersome to use with one hand, but taking notes with the e-ink screen and included pen makes this a fantastic option if you don’t want to carry around a real laptop.

Kindle Scribe is available on Amazon for $339.99, although you can choose from several storage options, including 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, as well as Basic Pen and Premium Pen options (the latter of which is just a pen with some additional buttons). .
