How to Copy and Paste on a Chromebook
Copy and paste are two of the most important keyboard shortcuts to learn, and they work pretty much the same on Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, and platforms like Chromebooks. If you’re upgrading to a Chromebook from a Windows PC or Mac, you don’t need to relearn the copy-paste keyboard shortcuts because they’re essentially the same in Chrome OS.
How to copy and paste selected text
One of the easiest ways to copy and paste on a Chromebook is to use keyboard shortcuts. To do this, select the text you want to copy with your mouse. Then press Ctrl + C on your keyboard to copy the selected text.
To paste it, click the area where you want to place the copied text and press Ctrl + V on your keyboard. Alternatively, instead of using the Ctrl+C keyboard shortcuts, you can right-click on the selected text and you will see a pop-up menu with a copy option. And right-clicking on an empty text area will give you the option to paste.
If the text you pasted doesn’t match the style of the existing text (it could be a larger font, a different color, etc.), use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + V to paste it as normal text. This shortcut is also sometimes called ” Insert and Match Style “. You’ll also see this option if you right-click in the empty text area above or below Paste .
Besides copying text from a web page, you can also copy and paste the URLs of your favorite websites to share them. To do this, go to the search bar, right-click and select Copy, or press Ctrl + C on the website URL to copy it. You can then go to the email or document, right-click and select Paste, or press Ctrl + V to paste the selected URL.
How to copy and paste images
Besides text, you can also copy and paste images. To do this, find the image you want to copy. Right-click on the image and you will see a pop-up menu that says Copy Image . Select “Copy Image” and your image is now copied.
To insert an image into an email or Google document, simply right-click and select Paste from the menu or press Ctrl + V on your keyboard.
