How to Change Siri’s Accent or Language
Gone are the days of Siri’s mechanical voice. Now you have a much more humane digital assistant on your iPhone. However, the default voice may not suit everyone. If you don’t like Siri’s voice, you can change it at any time. Apple also lets you switch Siri’s language, so you can customize the assistant’s sound just the way you like it.
How to change Siri voice on your iPhone
On iPhone, go to Settings > Siri & Search > Siri Voice . There are several options here. Under Variety, you can choose Siri’s accent. For some languages, such as English, you can see many options here, including American, Australian, British, Indian, Irish and South African. By selecting any of them, you’ll hear a preview of what the voice sounds like with a cheery message: “Hi! I’m Siri. Select the voice you want me to use.” Once you’ve selected the accent you like, you can scroll down to the Voice section and make your selection. Some varieties have only two voices to choose from, while others, such as American , have more than five. Again, each one you click offers the same cheerful preview and will take effect as soon as iOS loads the voice.
To change Siri’s language, go to Settings > Siri & Search > Language . Scroll up or down to find the Siri language you want and tap it to select it. Your iPhone will download the correct language and you will then be able to use it.
