How to Clear Cache on Your IPhone

Your iPhone does a pretty good job of managing storage and RAM on its own. In fact, it’s so good that you don’t need to stop running apps (unless flicking through apps is your way of relaxing). But there is one place where unnecessary junk and cache accumulates, and it can potentially slow down your phone and browser.

Each browser on iPhone—be it Safari, Chrome, or Firefox—maintains its own data cache. This is a good thing. It saves old web pages in memory and displays previews of web pages you haven’t touched in weeks. And it will preload web pages for you before you even switch to them.

But if you’ve accumulated tabs or use your iPhone for a long time, this cache can accumulate, not only taking up valuable space on your iPhone, but also eating up some of your RAM. It is recommended to clear your iPhone browser cache periodically. Once or twice a month will be enough.

How to clear cache in Safari on iPhone

You’ll find Safari settings in the iPhone Settings app. Go to Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data and select the Clear History and Data option from the pop-up window. Boom: cleared.

How to Clear Cache in Chrome on iPhone

Chrome is a popular alternative to Safari, especially if you use the Chrome browser on your Mac. To clear your cache in Chrome, open your browser and click the three-dot Menu button in the bottom right corner.

From the menu, select the Clear browsing data option. At the top, be sure to select the All Time option under the Time Range section. Below, enable the “Cookies, site data and cached images and files” option. Finally, click the Clear Browsing Data button to clear the entire cache.

How to clear cache in Firefox on iPhone

Clearing the cache in Firefox is quite simple. Tap the hamburger menu icon in the top right corner and select Settings > Data Management . Here, select “Clear personal data” and click “OK” to confirm.
