Tyson Recalls Dinosaur Chicken Nuggets That May Contain Metal Pieces
Tyson Foods is recalling 30,000 pounds of its kids’ favorite dinosaur nuggets due to reports of small metal pieces found in the meat, one of which caused “minor oral injury.” Here’s how to tell if your bag of chicken nuggets is damaged.
Which Tyson nuggets have been recalled?
The company is recalling its 29-ounce plastic bags of dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets labeled “Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Cutlet-Shaped Fun Nuggets.” The packaging features two cartoon dinosaurs, red and green, with a plate of nuggets on the front. Here is information about the affected items:
- Best Use By Date: September 4, 2024
- Lot codes are 2483BRV0207, 2483BRV0208, 2483BRV0209 and 2483BRV0210.
- The serial number “P-7211” is indicated on the back of the package.
- Distributed in Alabama, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.
According to a statement from Tyson Foods , no other products were affected.
What to do if you bought recalled Tyson Nuggets
The affected nuggets were produced on September 5, 2023 and therefore must have been purchased relatively recently, but the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) advises checking all frozen packages for recalled lot numbers.
If you have a bag of dinosaur nuggets matching the description above in your refrigerator or freezer, throw it away and do not eat any of the product. But before throwing away, Tyson encourages customers to cut out the UPC and date code from the packaging and call or text 855-382-3101.
This isn’t the first time Tyson’s frozen chicken has been contaminated with other materials. In 2019, the company recalled 69,000 pounds of frozen chicken strips after metal fragments were found in them, as well as 36,000 pounds of chicken nuggets after pieces of blue rubber were reported found.
