These New Arc Al Features Will Change the Way You Browse the Internet
Artificial intelligence is already integrated into popular browsers such as Microsoft Edge and Opera One, and the extension will allow you to use it in any browser . But a simple ChatGPT sidebar can only achieve so much. That’s why it’s great to see the Arc browser doing something new with Arc Max, its new set of clever little AI features.
As we’ve said before , Arc is one of the most well-designed browsers for Mac, and the new AI features introduced in the new 1.11.0 update only make it even better. Once you enable Arc Max in the settings (in the dedicated Max tab), you won’t notice anything special. There’s no flashing icon, no big sidebar, nothing to grab your attention.
Instead, you’ll start to see these features as you browse. Hover your mouse over a link for five seconds and Arc will show you a simple AI-generated summary of the article. It’s simple, but I’m already finding links on Twitter (X) instead of going to the website. AI is also effectively integrated into page search. Press Command + F and you will see the Ask button in the search bar. Here, you can ask a question about anything on the page, and Arc will return with a written answer (as well as the ability to do a general search of the page).
There are also two great additions in the sidebar. Pin a tab and Arc will automatically rename it to something short but to the point. Additionally, the browser renames downloads to make them easier to understand.
While there is no ChatGPT integration, there is a shortcut to it. Open the Command Palette with Command + T , type “ChatGPT” and Arc will directly open the ChatGPT website with your response. It would be nice if ChatGPT worked within an app, as paid products like Raycast do, but it’s nice if you primarily use the free ChatGPT website for replies.
Arc is different from other apps adding artificial intelligence to their products at the moment. Rather than forcing you to use them, these features are voluntary and will only be available for 30 days. After this trial period, Arc will ask users to vote on the features they want to keep. All I hope is that they keep the five second preview and Ask on Page features. They both make my life so much easier.
