These Are the Newest Updates to the Pixel Buds Pro
At Made by Google 2023, Google made some big announcements, from the updated Pixel 8 series to the all-new Pixel Watch 2. But that’s not all they announced: they also shared details about some exciting updates to the Pixel Buds Pro.
A little about Pixel Buds Pro
Google hasn’t announced a successor to the current Pixel Buds Pro: they’re still selling the earbuds you know, with custom-designed 11mm dynamic drivers and an active noise-canceling mode with transparency that can adapt to your ear.
Like other Google products, the Pixel Buds Pro also offers quick access to Google Assistant by saying “Hey Google.” You can listen to music on the headphones for up to seven hours with ANC on and up to 11 hours with ANC off. The charging case features wireless charging and a USB-C port and provides an additional 31 hours of listening time.
Google releases update for current Buds Pro
Google regularly sends out updates to the headphones, adding new features without the need to create new headphones. Here’s what’s new this fall.
The first new feature is called Bluetooth Super Wideband, which doubles the bandwidth of the headphones so voices sound fuller and clearer during phone calls. The headphones now also support Clear Calling , which debuted on the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Clear Calling uses artificial intelligence to suppress and reduce noise and enhance the caller’s voice on both ends of the call.
There’s also conversation detection, which uses artificial intelligence to detect when you start talking. When you speak, the headphones pause the music and enter transparent mode. Once you finish speaking, music will resume and noise canceling will be activated.
For those who game on their phone, the Pixel Buds Pro have a new low-latency gaming mode. The new mode will work when you open a compatible game and should cut audio latency in half. Nobody wants to see something happen on the screen and then hear it in their headphones half a second later. The Pixel Buds app also includes health statistics that show you how loud you’re listening to music and tells you when to turn the volume down.
If you’re not just an Android user, the Pixel Buds app for Pixel Buds Pro is now available on Chromebooks, making it easier to change settings, install updates, and more.
And while Google won’t release Pixel Buds Pro 2 or anything like that, there is something that might attract new buyers: In addition to the new features in the latest Pixel Buds Pro update, Google has also introduced two new color options – Bay (blue) ) and porcelain (beige). Of course, the headphones are also available in Charcoal, Fog, Lemongrass and Coral.
Pixel Buds Pro are available now for $199 at the following retailers:
