These Dehumidifiers Are Being Recalled Due to a Fire Hazard.

Gree Electric Appliances is recalling 1.56 million dehumidifiers , including 42 different models from 13 brands sold by several popular retailers, following reports of at least 23 fires. These brands include Kenmore, GE, SoleusAir, Norpole and Seabreeze.

Gree issued a similar recall in 2016 after reporting 450 fires and over $19 million in property damage . Here’s what you need to know about the latest review.

Which Gree dehumidifiers are being recalled?

The most recent recall concerns the following brands (see model number and capacity under each relevant link): GE , Kenmore , Norpole , Seabreeze and SoleusAir . The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says they can overheat, smoke and catch fire, with 23 fires reported, 688 overheating incidents and $168,000 in property damage related to the recall.

The recent recall also includes a warning reminding people of previously recalled Gree dryer models sold under the following brand names (see model number and capacity under each relevant link): Danby , De’Longhi , Fedders , Fellini , Frigidaire , GE , Gree , Kenmore , Norpole , Premiere , Seabreeze , SoleusAir and SuperClima .

The dehumidifiers from the latest recall were sold at Home Depot, Lowe’s, Menards, Sam’s Club, Sears, Walmart, and other stores nationwide from 2011 to 2014, priced between $110 and $400.

Dehumidifiers from a previous recall are potentially linked to four deaths, according to CPSC . Adults died in a house fire.

What to do if your dehumidifier has been recalled

Be sure to check the model number in the listings above to see if your model has been recalled. You can find the brand and pint size printed on the back, side, or front of the dehumidifier. The model number and date can be found on a sticker on the back, side, or front. Be sure to disable it if you have it.
