After Reddit cleared its free API of third-party apps , things got pretty bleak for Reddit apps. First of all: all promoted posts, featured posts and ads are gone. This absence brings back the ribbon-like interface that Apollo users love so much. Secondly, all pop-ups and buttons for installing the Reddit app are gone. Frankly, these two changes alone make Reddit much more usable on the iPhone.
There are also some quality of life improvements. You can double click to upvote a comment; there is a button to scroll the comments down and a button to quickly jump to the top; and nested comments are color-coded here. (So at least one thing from third-party apps is back.)
Sink It for Reddit is easy to use. Once the Safari extension is enabled, there is nothing else for you to do. You can go to the app’s settings to turn off features you don’t need.
To set it up, go to Settings > Safari > Extensions > Sink It for Reddit and enable the extension. Then open the Reddit website in the Safari browser. Click the ” Aa ” button in the toolbar and select the “Sink It for Reddit” extension once. It will ask you for permission to access the Reddit website. Once that’s done, reload the site and say hello to the new experience. You don’t need to do anything else now. The Reddit experience will remain clean going forward.
