You Can Now Add Music to Your Instagram Carousels
If you want to add music to your Instagram post, the app is happy to help you. If you want to add music to the carousel, you’re out of luck – no ringtones. At least that was the old Instagram policy. Now everyone can add music to their multiple photo posts thanks to none other than Olivia Rodrigo.
On Thursday night, the singer made her debut on a new Instagram feature along with her new song “Bad Idea, Right?” from her upcoming second album Guts . As part of the promotion, Instagram is now allowing everyone to add music to their photo carousels. (Emphasis on photo : video posts still don’t support music.)
How to Add Music to Instagram Photo Carousels
Currently, this feature does not appear to be fully rolled out yet. However, it’s safe to say that this will work just as, if not identically, as adding music to a standard Instagram post.
Tap the (+) at the bottom of the Instagram app, then tap the square button on the right to launch the carousel, or tap and hold on any photo. Select up to 10 photos for the carousel and click next. From here, you should see a musical note at the top of the screen. Tap it and you can select any of the songs on this page or search for any song in your Instagram library.
Once you select a song, you choose how long the song will play from five to 90 seconds, and then drag the slider to the desired part of the song.
Other New Instagram Features
In addition to music in photo carousels, Instagram is adding two more new features. You can now ask up to three friends (both private and public accounts) to collaborate on posts and videos. Don’t be surprised if you see three names at once at the top of posts moving forward.
In addition, the “Add Your Own” invitation has been updated to allow creators to pin up to 10 of their favorite “Add Your Own” videos created by subscribers. Keep this in mind the next time you reply to Reel with your own message: it might end up on their page.
