You Can Finally Share Your Screen During WhatsApp Video Calls
WhatsApp is gradually adding features to compete directly with more robust video calling apps like FaceTime and Google Meet. The next time you choose WhatsApp for a video call with up to 32 users, you’ll also find the option to share your screen, whether you’re using an iPhone, Android, or even the Windows app. (There is no news about the Mac app update.)
This feature is useful in different forms depending on your platform. On an iPhone or Android, this can be a great way to quickly show someone what’s on your screen, share something interesting, or even fix a problem. But it turns into something much more in Windows. Many small businesses and teams are already using WhatsApp groups for work. Now they can access simple screen sharing during group calls with just a couple of taps.
The exact steps may differ depending on the platform you choose, but it all starts after you’ve made a video call or conference call. You’ll find a new screen share button on the bottom toolbar where you have tools to switch cameras and end a call. When you select this option, the OS’s built-in screen sharing feature will appear. Tap your device’s pop-ups to give WhatsApp permission to share your screen.
Once enabled, your video preview will be replaced with a blank shared screen preview. Exit the app and you will see a floating view of the live video call and whatever is on your screen will be transferred during the call. If you prefer a wider bezel to share your screen on your mobile phone, simply rotate your smartphone to switch to landscape mode.
Once you’re done, you can return to the challenge. Click the Stop Sharing button to stop screen sharing.
