The New, Better Way to Take Screenshots in Chrome Incognito Mode on Android

Screenshots are disabled by default in Google Chrome’s incognito mode on Android, which, while good for privacy, can be inconvenient at times. You can use the Chrome flags workaround to take incognito screen shots, but this trick introduces a new problem – making incognito mode tabs appear on the Recent screen on your smartphone as a preview.

To solve this problem, Google has introduced a new Chrome flag that allows you to take screenshots in Chrome’s incognito mode by disabling the preview on the Recent screen. With it, you can maintain your privacy when Chrome is not the active app on the screen while still being able to take screenshots of web pages in incognito mode.

However, you won’t find this new flag in the official Chrome app on your phone. To try it out, you need to download Chrome Canary (Unstable) from the Play Store. This is a beta version of Chrome where new features are tested before Google releases them in a stable version. Even though it uses the word “unstable” in its name, it’s good enough to be used as your main browser, especially if you want to be on the cutting edge of technology.

Once Chrome Canary is installed, enter chrome://flags in the address bar and open the page. On the Chrome Flags page, look for improved Incognito Screenshots . Click the button below this checkbox and select Enabled . You will now be able to take screenshots of open tabs in Chrome’s incognito mode, and when you switch to the Recent menu, you will notice that screenshots are disabled.

Please note that this feature is not yet implemented in the stable version of Google Chrome for Android. If you enable this flag in Chrome Canary, it will not work in the stable version of the browser.
