All Things in Your House Can Be Simply Washed From the Outside With a Hose
If something needs to be cleaned, then by all means, do it thoroughly. But some things can be simply washed with a hose, which saves you time and energy. Here are some things you can just take outside to pour water on.
Animal containers
Cages, tanks, crates and trays eventually become dirty with animal waste, and all can withstand a blow from a hose. Simply take the bins outside, empty the solid waste into an outdoor trash can and hose them down. Of course, remove any movable objects that could be damaged by pressure from the hose (such as hamster wheels, water bottles, and tissues). If any part of your box or cage is made of wood, be sure to let it dry completely.
Oven racks
This won’t work if your oven shelves are covered in dried debris and need to be cleaned. But if they’re just dirty with fresh liquid or wet trash, put them on a tarp outside and spray them. It’s quick and easy, plus you can just leave the pans outside for a while to dry before bringing them in and putting them back in the oven.
Garbage bins
Turn a hose into a high pressure washer with soap and spray water inside trash cans to clean them out. Turn them upside down to get rid of excess water and leave to dry.
Other items you should be spraying from the hose
Here are a few simple yet inconspicuous household items that deserve an outdoor bath:
- window screens
- Shoe racks/shoe trays
- Laundry baskets
- Car floor mats and other durable floor mats
- Plastic furniture (and other similar things that lie in a warehouse and collect dust)
Again, if they need to be cleaned by hand, then by all means, it’s good to clean them. But sometimes it’s good to spend the day out of the hose and spray everything around from time to time.
