Here’s What’s New in the Latest WhatsApp Update

We love updates – new features, new stability, a fresh look at the apps we use every day. Now it’s WhatsApp’s turn to once again make new changes to the messaging app used by just about everyone with a smartphone . This time around, we’re seeing updates to two core elements of the app: surveys and signatures.

Whatsapp poll updates

These changes will be appreciated by everyone who uses WhatsApp to ask their friends and family questions. First, you can now create single-vote polls in WhatsApp discussions. This particular type of survey doesn’t allow respondents to answer more than once, so you won’t confuse the survey with multiple opinions. If you really need to know what the group thinks, a one-vote poll might be fine.

In addition, it is now much easier to return to the poll after the chat has continued. You no longer have to scroll through topics until you find a poll. Instead, you can just search for it and filter posts by polls. It works exactly like filtering photos, videos, or URLs. You can search for polls by opening the Chats page, clicking Search, and then choosing Polls to view all polls.

Finally, it’s now much easier to know when people have answered your surveys because WhatsApp will tell you every time they do so. The new update supports notifications whenever someone replies to your poll, so you can stay more passively involved in the responses rather than checking every minute to see who answered what.

Whatsapp signature updates

The second tent that this update covers is related to subtitles. WhatsApp now lets you save, delete, or edit photo captions when you forward them to another chat. If the photo doesn’t have an initial caption, you can add one yourself. This helps convey context to the image without having to send a separate message after the fact.

This also applies to documents: whether you’re sending a PDF from work or an interesting article you want to read to a friend, you can add a title to explain why you’re sending the text to begin with.

How to install the latest WhatsApp update

The new WhatsApp update starts rolling out to users around the world from today. However, it takes a few weeks for them to fully implement the changes, so you may not see them right away. Keep checking the App Store or Play Store for the latest updates, which may arrive today or by the end of the month.

The app may update automatically, but if not, you can update it yourself. On Android, open the Play Store app, tap your profile icon, select App & Device Management , then tap Update next to WhatsApp if available. On iOS, open the App Store, tap your profile icon, refresh the page by pulling down, then tap Refresh next to WhatsApp if available.
