DIY Lazy Susan
Spring cleaning isn’t just about cleaning: it’s about organizing, decluttering, and making your home more inviting and efficient. Sure, you’ll spend some time cleaning up, but why not have a fun little project that brightens up your kitchen and makes it easier to access your spices, as well as making it easier to tell which ones are too old to throw away?
Lazy Susan is a luxurious addition to any kitchen and you can make it yourself with just a few tools.
How to make a lazy Susan with your own hands
According to organizing expert Alejandra Costello , to make your very own Lazy Susan, you only need a few things, which you can purchase at your local store:
- Two deep baking dishes of the same size.
- Bag of balls
Place one of the pans on a flat surface and fill it with balls so that they are on the same level. Don’t use too many as you don’t want them to stack on top of each other. Then set the second pan on top of them and you can easily rotate it in the bottom one. Place spices or other small essentials on the top plate, right side out. According to Woman’s World , you can do this with pie plates too, but if you can, stick with pastry tins as they have a lot of depth.
While you’re spreading your spices on lazy susan, consider this the perfect time to go over and get rid of all that is past its prime . But you don’t have to stop with the spices – you can build some lazy suzans and use them around the house. Make one to store your nail cans in the garage, organize your toiletries, or use it in your home office for pens, paper clips, and other supplies.
