This Bathroom Product Will Protect Your Trash Cans From Bad Smells.
From the garage to the kitchen to your kids’ bedroom, stinky trash cans abound in your home. But perhaps you already have the perfect solution in your bathroom. While there’s no substitute for regularly thoroughly emptying trash cans or diaper bins , you can – and should – still fight bad odors: with a deodorizing toilet gel.
This hack comes up quite often on TikTok : You use a deodorant gel, like Lysol Click Gel Automatic Toilet Cleaner ( $4.47 for six uses ), on the inside of a trash can. (Scrubbing Bubbles makes a similar product with the same number of uses for the same price , so you’re bound to find a scent you like somewhere – there are even non-brands that give you 60 uses for five scents, all for $18.99. . )
Ideally, you should have a trash can with a lid that you can put three or so statements on, but if you don’t have a lid, you can put them on the bottom or on the sides, under your bag. Here’s a TikTok from CleanTok influencer @The_Spin_Cycle demonstrating how to fit just one app under the bag.
(In a comment on this TikTok, one user said they put scented cat litter in the bottom of their trash bags to absorb moisture and odors. Consider this a bonus hack.)
These gels are meant to be slowly flushed out with every flush of your toilet, but since they’re not in your toilet here, they can last for months, degrading much more slowly. When you notice that they are drying out, simply replace them with a fresh scented brand.
Be aware, however, that they can stick to your bags, so if you don’t have a lid on the jar, consider placing the gel stamps where the package won’t be touched as often as the bottom corners of the package. bin
