Your Android Phone Can Run Much Faster
If you’re not happy with Android’s response on your phone, you don’t have to update it – instead, you can do something to make any Android device run faster. The secret is to change the animation speed of your phone so that the elements move faster when you interact with them. Swipe to go home to move the window faster, and swiping between apps will switch quickly. The key word here, however, is secret: while setting the animation speed might be tempting, it’s not something that Android allows you to change in its surface settings, as Android Police shows .
How to change animation speed on android
To get started, you’ll need to enable Developer Options, which opens up a bunch of hidden settings for the game. For the uninitiated, you need to go to Settings > About Phone , then scroll down and tap Build Number seven times. Depending on your settings, you may be required to authenticate. Now your phone will confirm that you are a developer, even if you are not actually a developer.
Once you’ve earned your new developer title, go to Settings > System > Developer Options > Drawing . Under this heading, you’ll see three Animation Scale options: Window Animation Scale, Transition Animation Scale, and Animation Duration Scale. Touch each of these options and change the value from 1x to 0.5x as the lower the number, the faster the animation. You can even turn off the animation if you want (but you probably won’t like it).
Of course, each option controls a different type of animation on your phone: “Window Animation Scale” controls the speed of the window animation; “Transition Animation Scale” controls the speed of transitions, such as when you go back a page; and Animation Duration Scale controls the overall speed of common animations such as the notification bar dropdown menu. You may find it helpful to test each option first to make sure each one works for you.
This option is also not necessarily used for good. As stated in this Reddit thread on the subject , you can always change someone else’s phone’s animation speed to 10x. This way, when they try to use their phone, swiping between windows will be excruciatingly slow. It’s a pretty harmless joke if you’re quick to confess.
