If You Really Love Your Valentines, Buy Them Candy at the Stationery Store

One of the perks of working in an office is access to snacks that you don’t have to pay for. When I worked for a large engineering firm, I always had a constant supply of donuts, cookies, and candy, and there was always a huge amount of candy. There is something delicious about a candy of this magnitude. A tub of jelly beans, a bucket of Red Vines, a box of candy bars – that’s how much candy you should give your Valentine.

You don’t just give your Valentines candy—you give them abundance. I recently bought my boyfriend a box of 200 of his favorite sour candies (Sour Power brand strawberry tubes) and it has been a source of pleasure for both of us. No matter how many sweets we eat, there always seems to be more. The concept is similar to buying a lot of worldly food for your love, just a little sweeter to fit in with the holiday spirit. (Although my partner would be delighted if I bought him a huge amount of ketchup for Valentine’s Day. He always runs out.)

The stationery store is the obvious place to buy this amount of candy, but Costco and Sam’s Club are the most cost effective. You can also order it online – I found Sour Power straws on Amazon for $20.

It goes without saying that this is most effective if you buy their favorite candy, but if they “love it all”, check out the Costco website for inspiration. I personally would love a lot of options, like a can of Starburst, a box of 100 assorted Tootsie Pops, or five and a half pounds of Red Vines. They might not come in a heart-shaped box, but you were going to throw that box away anyway.
