You Can Now Order Delivery Through Your Roku for a Reason
Like it or not, advertising is permeating almost every aspect of digital life. Even Apple, a tech company notorious for not making money from marketing, now runs ads on its iPhones . If the ad is still here, I think it might be useful. That’s why the next time you see a restaurant or grocery store ad on your Roku, maybe you’ll take advantage of that deal?
Here’s how it works: When you see an ad for something like Wendy’s while browsing your Roku, you can click on it to order delivery. Thanks to a deal between Roku and DoorDash , the popular delivery app will become the exclusive service for delivering ads to your home (and stomach) for the next year. After that, you can start seeing other delivery services in the mix. But in the meantime, you can use DoorDash for any food or product that appears on your screen at any time.
Wendy’s is the first partner in this new deal: When you order Wendy’s through Roku and DoorDash, you have access to $5 off any purchase of $15 or more.
However, the simplest offer is a six-month free trial of DashPass, DoorDash’s subscription service. With it, DoorDash removes shipping fees, lowers fees for some services, offers a 5% DoorDash credit back, among other perks for subscribers. After the six-month trial period, the plan will automatically renew at $9.99 per month. If you order enough DoorDash, this cost can pay off. If not, be sure to set a reminder to cancel your trial before it’s charged (by the way, if you sign up today it will be August 7th).
Unfortunately, the deal is good for both Roku users and new DoorDash customers. If you previously subscribed to DoorDash’s DashPass, you won’t be able to take advantage of the free six months. However, the ads will be there so you can order when your mood is up. The deal expires on March 12, so if you’re interested, jump on it ASAP.
