Expect a “Damp, Shaky Spring” This Year
Now that we’ve lived through January, it may seem that spring is just around the corner. And while the season officially starts on March 20, it may be some time before the weather adjusts to the calendar – at least according to the latest forecasts from the Farmer’s Almanac . Here’s what you need to know.
What to expect from the weather in spring 2023
Those hoping for warmer weather will have to wait a bit for that to happen, as the Farmer’s Almanac predicts unseasonably cold weather for much of the country, as well as heavy rainfall – or what they call a “wet, chilly spring ahead.”
If you really made it through the winter, your best bet is to head west; especially in the southwest where temperatures will rise rapidly. The other exceptions are Washington, Oregon and Idaho, where spring temperatures should be near normal.
And what about the rest of the country? The Farmer’s Almanac predicts frequent severe to severe thunderstorms in the “center of the country” as well as the southeastern states starting in March and continuing through June. However, states surrounding the Great Lakes should be prepared to see snow in the forecast until at least early April.
Gardening Forecast for Spring 2023
As always, spring is an important time of the year for your garden, and this year is no exception.
