An Easy Way to Gradually Clear Cluttered Film
Admit it: your photo app is a mess. Of course, it is full of incredible memories of years of parties, travels and ordinary life. It’s also full of useless screenshots, photo duplicates, and embarrassing shots that inspire us to wonder, “What was I thinking ?” Whether you have an iPhone or Android with a bloated photo library, there is a hack that can seriously help clean up the mess, albeit rather slowly.
Part of the problem lies in the scale of the situation. Many of us have photo libraries that are several years old, if not decades old, with tens or hundreds of thousands of images. It’s impossible to scroll through your entire library looking for these unwanted images one by one, so we’re usually forced to find them when browsing other photos – as a little unwanted surprise.
Earlier this year , TikTok user kaylakerr_ shared her simple life hack on how to deal with clutter in the frame. It’s one of those tricks that makes you think, “Why didn’t I think of this before?” You can (and should) even start today.
First open the photo app, then open search and enter today’s date. So, you can enter January 26th and start searching. The application will pull up all the photos taken on that day for all the years that you spent in the application. Now scroll through these images and delete the ones you no longer need. While there might still be a lot of photos in here, chances are it’s a much more manageable number than your entire photo library, making things a lot easier.
If you make this life hack a part of your daily routine, you will slowly go through all your photos and videos for a year. By January 26, 2024, you’ll be able to scroll through your library and see only the content you need there – unless, of course, you’ve added some more junk along the way.
To be fair, software developers are adding solutions to their apps that make photo management easier. Most photography apps now have a Screenshots folder, so you don’t have to endlessly scroll through your main library to delete old unwanted screenshots. And last year, Apple made it easier to find and remove duplicate images in its Photos apps .
It would be fun to see one of these developers add such a feature to their apps. Maybe “Today in Review” where you view all the photos from that date and mark the ones you want to delete. Until then, finding today’s date is the next best solution and it works well.
