When you update your smartphone to Android 13 , you’ll find new features and changes such as Material You, support for third-party app icons , the ability to turn off app notifications immediately, and schedule dark mode before bed, among many other options. . Of course, to try out these new Android 13 features, you’ll need to install an update, and unfortunately, not all Android phones can run Android 13 right now (some never will).
Why does it take so long for some phones to get Android 13?
Android is a unique OS. Google is developing it, including new updates, but the Google version doesn’t appear on most phones. After Google creates a new version of Android (for example, Android 13), smartphone manufacturers create their own version of this update, called a shell. For example, Samsung is releasing “One UI”, OnePlus is releasing “OxygenOS” and Asus is releasing “ZenUI” just to name a few.
All of these skins customize Android for specific devices and ecosystems, but they’re all based on the same base version of Android. OneUI 5.0 and OxygenOS 13 are variants of Android 13 with all the new features that Google has added to it.
Although Google has been making efforts in recent years to improve the adoption of Android by many smartphone manufacturers, it is still painfully slow. The only surefire way to get the latest version of Android as soon as it’s released is to buy a Pixel, Google’s own line of phones.
Google Pixel phones with Android 13 support
Google’s list of supported Pixel devices is good, but it doesn’t include some other phones. The company is no longer supporting the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a, meaning those devices will never see Android 13. However, those of us with Pixel 4 or newer are still in the game:

Samsung Galaxy devices supporting Android 13 (OneUI 5.0)
In second place after Google in the implementation of Android is Samsung. The company releases new versions of Android at a relative pace, although there is a waiting period compared to Pixels. Samsung is also prioritizing its new smartphones for the latest Android updates, though earlier Galaxy generations may become compatible with the update in the future. This month, Samsung released OneUI 5.0 to many of its latest smartphones, including:

However, there is a long list of Galaxy devices that will receive OneUI 5.0 soon. The most recent Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold devices should receive the update this month, while many Samsung Galaxy A and Galaxy M series devices will receive the update sometime between December and April.
Vivo iQOO (original Ocean OS)
Vivo doesn’t sell its iQOO lineup in the US, but it now has two devices running Android 13 via Origin OS Ocean:

Unfortunately, this is the entire list of supported Android 13 phones as it stands. As I said, Android phones are slow to accept new updates, so the list is small but growing. Samsung only started updating its phones this month, and OnePlus is currently beta testing OxygenOS 13 for its suite of phones.
Google has also confirmed that other Android OEMs are working on bringing Android 13 to their devices this year. The list includes Asus, HMD (Nokia phones), Motorola, Oppo, Realme, Sharp, Sony, Tecno, vivo and Xiaomi.
