It’s been more than a dozen years since Disney released a traditionally animated feature film, prompting audience indifference to mediocre mid-00s films like The Range House and Brer Bear , as a sign that computer animation was a box office wave. future. The other big Netflix movie release in November is The Miracle (November 16). Florence Pugh swaps 1950s ” Don’t Worry Darling ” trappings for period Irish 1860s costumes for this film adaptation of Emma Donoghue’s novel (The Room ). The film is about a young nurse (Pugh) who is sent to a rural Irish village to care for a young girl who has not eaten in months with no visible side effects. Directed by Sebastian Lelio, whose 2017 film Fantastic Woman won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, the film is among the lures for the 2022 streamer awards; it had already screened at several film festivals, causing hype around Pugh’s award.

Less likely to be nominated for any nomination and more likely to be watched by many more people – Christmas with You (November 17), in which a pop star (Freddie Prinze Jr.) works with a fan to try and write a festive hit; we can probably imagine where this is going. I’m also intrigued by Dreamland (November 18), a loose adaptation of Nemo in Dreamland fantasy adventure comic by Francis Lawrence, director of I Am Legend and the two Hunger Games films. On the TV front, Netflix will debut a remastered version of The Addams Family , created by Tim Burton (November 23), that will take the grim teen from the title into a modern high school. Fans of the cult German sci-fi series The Dark should check out 1899 (November 17), a new show from the same creative team about the passengers of a turn-of-the-century sailing ship that has been rerouted. into foreign waters.
