These Free Stencils Will Help You Cut the Best Pumpkin Lantern Around

Even if you hate the usual fall activities and prefer to do something a little more unique in the fall, at some point this month you will probably find yourself in a pumpkin patch. After all, it’s pumpkin lantern season. And while pumpkin hunting may be easy, your wood carving doesn’t have to be. There are cool, unexpected templates that can be found for free all over the internet. Here are some of our favorite resources.

If you love unusual designs…

Interesting patterns that aren’t run-of-the-mill can be found on the Pumpkin Lady website, which has many free patterns you can print and use. There’s an entire section dedicated to skulls , but there’s also more than the standard Halloween food. For example, there’s also a Winter Wonderland section , where you could theoretically carve pumpkins… and use them as Christmas decorations?

We’re partial to this one, which looks like the Mothman or this ridiculously adorable goblin opening the door . Stencils for individual bubble letters allow you to create your own phrases. (Bonus: this one just says “eat drink and be hairy” which is hilarious.)

If you’re into pop culture…

Pumpkin Lady also has a famous faces section, which includes Angelina Jolie , Danielle Radcliffe and Edgar Allan Poe , but you have plenty of options if you’re looking for pop culture templates elsewhere. Interested in Wonder Woman or Baby Groot ? Halloweencostumes.com has them for free and is very easy to cut.

If you love sports…

Big sports fans who love Halloween will really love some sports themed pumpkin lantern designs. If you like college football more than entertainment, carve a pumpkin to cheer for your favorite team. Spook Master has templates for Alabama Crimson Tide , Florida Gators , Kentucky Wildcats and many more.

If you’re more into pro sports, the Pumpkin Pile has NFL teams (as well as the NFL logo itself ), and MLB teams like the Braves and Twins even have free templates available for download on their official websites.

If you want to do it yourself…

We’ve already covered one set of bubble letters above, courtesy of Pumpkin Lady, but if you really want to make your own sayings or templates of your own, you have more options. In Muse Printables , for example, you can choose from a variety of intricate, detailed letters. Download them and scale them down to the right size to fit on the pumpkin. You can choose letters and numbers in candles , surrounded by delicate leaves or flames , and much more.
