How to Make Apple Watch Last Several Days Without Recharging

When it comes to the Apple Watch, “all-day battery life” is Apple’s party line, but what it really means is an 18-hour battery life cycle. If you want to use it during the day, you’ll want to stick with light usage (and don’t wear it before bed). But now, with watchOS 9 , Apple is introducing a new “Low Power Mode” for watches for the first time.

All Apple Watches from Series 4 and up will be able to access this feature. Apple says you can expect up to 36 hours of battery life in this mode, effectively doubling the typical Apple Watch usage time. If you have an Apple Watch Ultra , this number goes up to 60 hours. Practically speaking, if you don’t wear your Apple Watch at night, you can easily extend your battery life by a couple of days.

Power saving mode turns off battery-consuming features such as the always-on display, heart rate notifications, background heart rate monitoring, background oxygen monitoring, and workout start reminders. When your iPhone isn’t around, it will also turn off Wi-Fi and cellular, as well as the ability to receive iPhone calls on your Apple Watch. Typically, calls and notifications may take longer to deliver.

If you think these are worthy sacrifices for battery life, you can turn it on by swiping up on the watch face to access the Control Center. Tap the Battery icon, and then tap the switch next to Low Power Mode.

You’ll see a new screen that will explain everything the watch will turn off, as well as two options: just tap the ” Enable ” button to turn on low power mode, or you can use the ” Enable for ” option. to turn it on for one, two or three days. Once it is enabled, you will see a yellow circle on the top status bar.

If you feel like your workouts are draining your Apple Watch battery, there’s a separate feature that automatically turns on low power mode when you start your workout. Go to Settings > Workout > Power Saving Mode to enable this feature.

If you don’t turn on power saving mode and your watch’s battery drops to 10%, you’ll get a pop-up asking if you want to turn it on; once it is charged to 80%, low power mode will be automatically disabled.
