A Guide to Child Culture for Out-of-Touch Adults: How Young Is He to Go Horn?
In the UK, the summer months were called “silly season” because of the frivolous news that filled the media for lack of “real” news. The same thing seems to work with young people on the Internet: summer is the season of stupidity, so all these stories are funny.
What is #Krissing?
Rickrolling has been around since 2006, so it’s time for the youth to come up with a replacement. One attempt at distribution on TikTok is “Krissing,” which involves posting videos with a clickbait caption like “Roblox is shutting down!” Then, at the most dramatic moment of the video, you cut in a short clip of The Kardashian ‘s Kris Jenner dancing to “Lady Marmalade.” Add the phrase “You just got #krissed” and you’re done: the joke is over. Here are some examples to get you started .
Whether this will have rickroll durability remains to be seen, but it’s even more annoying, so I’m guessing it’s going to be around for a long time to come.
On Teslas and tiny houses
We used to refer to “tiny houses” as either “junkyards” or “trailers,” but some young people are increasingly embracing small spaces, asking, “How many houses do you really need ?” This might be a valid question, but what if you live in a 240-square-foot house and drive a Tesla ? Have you prioritized correctly? This is the lifestyle TikToker jackleonardbirt chose. Living in a converted shipping container behind the wheel of a Tesla makes sense, he says, as his tiny house has everything he needs and uses Tesla to deliver goods for DoorDash. I knew some wannabe movie producers who used to pay more for a car than they did for rent, but they tried to appear more successful than they really were for business reasons. This dude just delivers burritos.
How young, too young to go to Hooters?
If your child asked to go to Hooters on their twelfth birthday , would you take them? TikToker Emtmomlife made, made and posted a video to prove it .
On the one hand, I heard that Hooters has good chicken wings, and children are not forbidden to go there, because the waiters do not go topless. On the other hand, there is something disgusting about the very idea of this place. It represents values that I would not want my child to learn, so I would say no. Comments on the video are divided, with some commenting, “My mom would put me on the ground just for asking,” while others say, “My man looks so happy, I love it haha.” To balance the scales, emtmomlife posted a video of her son reading the Bible . As said, he found Jesus!
Future favorite film: “The summer when I became beautiful “
I love making pop culture predictions, but I’m usually wrong, but here’s the thing: a lot of young women will react positively to The Summer I Got Pretty, and ultimately, this film will be the touchstone of girls’ lives. aged 12 to 16 years.
Here’s my reason: It’s a spiritual sequel to the successful 2018 Netflix movie To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and its sequels. It has the perfect name. It came out on Prime Video just in time for the start of the summer. It is based on a successful youth romance. And finally: it’s really good . It’s not good in the sense that I like good movies , but it’s good in the sense that normal people like movies to be good (the cast is attractive and talented, the script is solid. It’s about human emotions connected, etc.) .
What is “Cluttercore”?
I spend my life trying to prevent clutter in my personal space, but some crazy TikTok guys and ladies are taking it. They called the art style “cluttercore”. Aesthetics combines elements of maximalism with damn hoarding. If you’re doing it right, your home should feel like a “warm and cozy antique shop” where your belongings are on display without apology. This hashtag has over 52 million views, filled with video rooms that have given me all my ” get rid of this shit” anxieties, like this one , this one, and this one .
Two Silly But Harmless TikTok Trends
There are too many stupid things happening on TikTok daily to be cataloged, but here are a couple of stupid things that are currently blowing up on the service.
- Taping your mouth with tape while you sleep . The idea is that breathing through your nose is more beneficial than breathing through your mouth, and a small patch can encourage/force you to do so.
- Tortilla Challenge : Unlike some TikTok challenges, this one seems harmless (but silly). It works like this: you and your friend fill your mouth with water and take turns slapping each other with tortillas until someone laughs and spit water all over the place.
Viral Video of the Week: “There’s a HUGE Secret Behind This Fake Office”
Marc Robert , the author of these brilliant YouTube bombs and squirrel obstacle courses, has a new engineering project and it’s amazing. In this week’s viral video, Rober takes you behind the scenes of Crunch Labs, his new secret lab/workplace.
If you ever got bored in your sixth grade English class and drew your secret base, you probably drew something like this. The lab can be accessed through a secret door in an unassuming office, but if you go through a secret passage it leads to a Willy Wonka-like factory with a pneumatic system to lower people between floors, a Nerf armory, secret rooms hidden behind a soda machine, the most the world’s longest Hot Wheels track, a tennis ball cannon that can be wound high enough to blast tennis balls through drywall (complete with a $10,000 prize if you hit the bullseye), and much more completely impractical but awesome traits of a sixth grader.
